Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham is still coming to terms with the end of his season after tearing his triceps in Sunday’s win against the Los Angeles Rams. Graham had previously shared during training camp that this season might be his last, and the way it concluded has left him with a flood of emotions.
Speaking on SportsRadio 94 WIP’s Morning Show Tuesday, Graham confirmed he will undergo surgery next week to repair the injury, which occurred in the same area where he had been dealing with tendonitis for an extended period. Graham became emotional during the interview, tearing up as he reflected on his situation.
“Hold on, I’m trying to keep it in,” Graham told co-hosts Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie as he wiped away tears. “I know I needed it. I just love what we’ve been building, and I don’t want to let anybody down by getting hurt because I know I bring that energy. I needed to get this out. It’s been a while since I cried.”

Graham emphasized the significance of this season, given the challenges the team faced before embarking on their current seven-game win streak. He also drew parallels between the team’s resilience and his own career, which began with critics labeling him a draft bust before he became a Pro Bowler and helped the Eagles win the first Super Bowl in franchise history.
“For the 15 years I’ve been here, I’ve had some people doubt me,” Graham said. “This year was a big one for me, and I think I accomplished a lot. But I know it’s God’s plan, and I’m trusting that. That’s where I’m at, but I needed this in a big way.”
Despite the injury, Graham, who had 3.5 sacks this season, has expressed his desire to remain with the team in a leadership role, offering guidance and motivation from the sidelines. During a virtual press conference on Tuesday, head coach Nick Sirianni said he fully supports the idea, emphasizing Graham’s impact on and off the field.
“We need him, I need him, and the team needs him,” Sirianni said. “Brandon Graham affects the team way more than just on the field because of the person he is, the captain that he is, and the teammate he is. His enthusiasm and love for football and his teammates is infectious. I wish everybody in every workplace could have a Brandon Graham because he lifts everyone up every single day. That’s a special quality he has. Even if there are concerns about him being on the sideline, I’ll lobby with everything I have to make it happen, and I’ll do my best to protect him if the ball gets anywhere close.”
